As one of the largest girls’rights organizations in the world, we partner with young people and advocates to drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels, with the goal of advancing children’s rights and equality for girls.

Together with our advocates, we aim to create safe spaces for girls and young women to define their vision of their future and their identity. We work to ensure they’re equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to identify barriers and conquer obstacles.

Girls’ rights and gender equality

Plan International USA and 23 other organizations welcome the passage of the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act of 2018 through the U.S. House of Representatives.

Sexual and reproductive health rights

Adolescent girls and young women in the countries where Plan works are frequently subjected to serious harm and human rights violations, including coerced sex and child marriage. Plan International USA believes that all children, adolescents, and young people deserve to be protected from harm and to lead safe and healthy lives.

The importance of inclusive, quality education

Plan International USA calls on the U.S. Government and the international community to maintain investments to improve policies, strategies, and programs that ensure universal access to quality education for children, particularly girls and children who are at-risk, marginalized, and vulnerable.

The Mexico City Policy

Millions of vulnerable girls and women will suffer if sexual and reproductive health services that provide vital support to them are withdrawn or cut back as a consequence of the Mexico City Policy.

Plan International USA applauds the introduction of the Keeping Girls in School Act, legislation designed to build on the legacy of Let Girls Learn and continue the momentum of the Global Strategy for Adolescent Girls.
