Sue Benton is the Managing Member of Benton Firm LLC. In this role, Ms. Benton acts as a counselor and litigator to clients, providing solutions to their immediate and long-term labor-management and employment concerns. She is also regularly retained by companies and Boards of Directors to conduct investigations into allegations of management misconduct, as well as allegations of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct.
She has assisted clients in a range of industries, including professional services, consulting, broadcast, law, financial services, insurance, communications, technology, manufacturing, and distribution. She has done this on an international, national, and regional basis as counselor, investigator, negotiator, and trial attorney before state and federal trial and appellate courts, the National Labor Relations Board, and other administrative bodies and self-regulatory authorities.
Ms. Benton also serves as outside general counsel to an executive search firm. In this role, she provides advice and counsel on a wide range of legal issues.
Prior to starting Benton Firm LLC, Ms. Benton was a partner at large international law firms for more than 25 years.
Beyond her professional career, she is involved in the community through the Field Museum of Natural History, Youth Guidance, and the Academy for Urban School Leadership.
Her professional endeavors and work in the community have earned her awards and recognition, including fellowships for the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and American Bar Foundation, as well as a Top 100 Lawyers recognition from Illinois Leading Lawyers and a rating of AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell for 20 consecutive years.
