Meet Kema

Kema is a Plan International sponsored child from Liberia. She lives with her father, who is a rice farmer. Her mother died in a car accident during the Ebola epidemic that swept the nation in 2014. Without running water in her village, Kema and her friends must collect water from the creek each day before school.

In 2016, we gave her a camera to show us a day in her life.

Plan has been working on the health and water situation in this community, and also hosts lessons for Kema and her classmates about their rights.

Kema enjoys school and her favorite subject is math. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up so that she can treat people and save lives.
